Integrated Workplace Management Systems are in most cases true technological miracles. All those lines of code, frameworks, programming languages which have been developed by the world’s brightest minds, are absolutely magnificent technology. However, no one cares about IWMS technology.

You might think that this is a remarkable statement from someone who frequently writes about IWMS technology. Let me explain.
Despite what some IWMS vendors make you believe, IWMS technology is never a solution itself. Nor is it a goal. IWMS technology is just a means to an end. Your organization should use IWMS technology only to solve business problems. These business problems can be found everywhere in your organization.
- A help desk employee that has to enter a trouble ticket
- A space manager that has to strategically plan occupancy
- A maintenance coordinator that has to forecast his maintenance budget
- A Corporate Real Estate Executive responsible for optimizing the real estate portfolio
- Etc.
IWMS technology should empower individuals to complete their tasks. It must make their daily routines easier. This is the only thing that technology should do. Maximize the contribution of the individual to the organization.
When IWMS technology is designed to adequately solve business problems, and support individuals in their daily routines, then everyone cares.
